• The pulse generator used is designed and produced by Scandinova. In the PEF treatment chamber developed at SIK, a homogenous electric field is applied over a closed treatment chamber giving all products the same treatment. Before treatment the product was kept cold (~5ºC) using cooling media containing water and ethanol.
  
  The temperature was measured before and after PEF treatment and the temperature increase was monitored. Directly after PEF treatment the sample was cooled down to 5ºC and samples were kept on ice until microbial analyses were performed. The pulse wave shape was captured by an oscilloscope.
